eon lied to me
eon promised if i switched to them from british gas they would lower my payments from £150.00 a month to £120.00 till october this year without accumilating any debt , then in october i would go back to paying the £150.00 a month , they told me they would do this to get my custom and would not put my payments up , after so many months with them i was odviously in debt so i rang and asked why they had put me in debt when they told me i would not be in debt , they told me the people that came to the door offering this deal had been sacked becuase of what they quoted me and it was wrong of them to quote , id even rang eon before signing to confirm this offer was real and the lady at eon told me the exact same offer , i recieved a letter of apology from them and felt id truley been duped by them , but now they have gone and put my gas and electric payments up to £180.00 as im still in debt and they said they can because the offer was never real , can they do this?

Your monthly payment is dependent on how much energy you use and you are in control of this. If you continue to use hundreds of pounds of energy but only pay for a fraction of what you use, you will be in debt and it is appropriate that your supplier increases your payments to avoid this.
Reducing your usage will reduce your bills.0 -
The only way to truly discover how much you would be paying with any tariff/supplier is to firstly obtain your annual usage in kwhs from your present supplier then input them into one of the various switching sites.Call me Carmine....

I will...
You are sorted if you have this offer in writing! I am certain they will uphold it for you.
But im pretty sure you dont have it in writing, and therefore will have to accept you made a silly mistake. No company would offer an unlimited supply of gas for X amount per month.Sunny in Southampton.0 -

That is the answer to your question. Your account is subject to the terms and conditions of your tariff, not what someone told you on the doorstep.0 -

I've no idea. Surely the amount you are billed will ultimately depend on the amount you consume (as you later accept)

Hi gorygirl
I am really sorry you were given dodgy info by one of our reps. We do not condone this type of behaviour and it seems from your post that appropriate action has been taken against the individual concerned.
Magentasue is absolutely right about monthly payments being based on actual usage.
I am afraid your payments will need to cover usage regardless of the misleading info you were given by the rep.
Does the increased monthly figure of £180 include a payment towards the debt? If it does I would imagine the debt has been spread over a set period and included with your ongoing usage.
Should this be the case it may be possible to lower the monthly payments by spreading the debt over a longer period. Give us a call and ask for the debt to be spread over a similar period to that which the debt has built up.
Again, sorry you were given suspect info at the point of sale.

Seriously you believed them?
They would pay you 200+ quid to get your custom?
What if you used double your allownace over the period? That was just free energy.
A DD is simply a way to pay bills overtime, sometimes its under what you use (seasonal i.e more gas in winter) and sometimes its less (i pay 58 quid dd a month on my flat for gas/elec and im overpaying by 10 quid a month).
Overall you pay for what you use...0 -
