I put my laptop on last night and when i tried to go onto the internet it just crashed.
I tried restarting it but it kept going to dos to do a repair. The results of this was a message saying it cannot be automatically repaired and now i don't know what to do.
I have had to ask my daughter to bring her laptop round so i can put this posting on here as my friend said she got so much help and advice when her pc went down.
I really would appreciate any help and advice anyone could give me.
Thankyou

I mean the Microsoft dos message with black background and white writing, and it gives me two options to start windows normally (which it wont do) or to do a start up repair which is recommended.
It doesn't boot up window at all0 -

hmm have you made any recovery media? ie a hp recovery disc or vista recovery diskBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
No, and there were no discs with the laptop when i bought it as the various programs were already on the laptop and I just had to install them0

there should have been a recovery partition that the manual would have told you to copy to a disk
and vista would have notified you at some point so you probably ignored it
in that case its not looking good. it may be some kind of hard drive failure but with no recovery media to test it we cannot know
you may be looking at some costly repairs if your not in warranty unless anybody has any other ideas?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
MMM I though that might be the case. I am just trying the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and it already says there were hardware problems detected and its still doing the tests.0

Its just decided to turn itself off in the middle of doing the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool tests.
I've put it back on and im going all through the stages again.0 -
It turned itself off at exactly the same point again!0
