I bank with the HSBC been with them since it was Midland bank (opened the current account when I was at school to get all the freebies!). Ive now got the current account advance, it pays 0% interest! but I don't keep much money in it, just have enough money going through it to qualify for their 8% regular saver and pay a few bills.
Although I mostly do my banking on-line if I ever do have to go in to the branch i.e. to open the regular saver, their out of town branch is literally 2/3 mins across the road from where I live which is very handy. I find their on-line service is easy to use & their staff in my local branch are always very helpful & polite.
But I agree most of their saving rates are very low and because of that I don't have any other savings products with them, also I hear they are reducing their regular saver to 4% soon so I wont be renewing that when it matures.
If you want good saving rates, IMO HSBC is definitely not the place to have your savings, safe & secure they may be but not very competitive.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0
