Plumber and tiler recommendations?

Hi
I have had a survey done on a property i am buying and a couple of matters have been flagged - initially, I need quotes for the work.
Could anyone recommend a plumber a tile they have used that are reasonable but do a good job! Hard to know who are cowboys and who aren't! Or do you know a website where people recommend workmen!?
1. the hot water cylinder needs replacing in the downstairs bathroom and may have damp issues around it due to a slight leak.
2. frost damage on a few dozen tiles on the roof which will need replacing.
Thanks

It might get you more responses if you included your location in the title of the thread.... no use me responding to
"Plumber/tiler recommendation (for Brighton)"
when I only know of
"Plumber/tiler recommendation in Aberdeen"0 -
Ask your local council if they have a trade safe scheme (Trading standards deal with it in Oldham) - a list of workmen and companies who meet their requirements & standards ... doesn't guarantee they'll be perfect but it's got to be a better start than the guess work of yellow pages or the paper.0

I know a plumber who is based near Hammersmith.
Agree with googler, if you could let us know your location, it will be easier0 -
Definitely need location before recommendations can be made. The UK may only be a small country, but is still a big place. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Oops sorry, thought I'd put it!!!
