God is it really that sad that people in the Big Bad City of Gold have to spend money to impress people you'd probably never have in your house under normal circumstances?
Well I can't help but think if one person is feeling the pressure then so are a hell of a lot of other people....hopefully it will take a handful of strong, determined people who don't mind making their own lunch (
) to start a new trend.
:idea: That's it!! Just label it trendy to make your own lunch and plan your menus/go home and eat some homecooked food....and someone in 'the media' will be onto it before you can say "hang on that was my idea!"
Suddenly everyone'll be at it! Channel 4 will have a new programme with someone like Gillian McKeith going round to slap people she sees wasting cash in Starbucks!
LOL!!! :rotfl:
Fair point... I know a couple of people who are big coffee drinkers, who spend a lot of time talking about growing tomatoes and downsizing to the country... certainly a trend Phil & Kirsty have some responsibility for! (BTW - I love them both with all my heart!).
It probably is sad, and maybe things are different for the new generation of early twenty somethings coming to the city, I suspect not. There is still a queue everytime it is sunny to get into the roof garden of the Coq D'argent...
And for the record, salary aside and age/wisdom accounted for, I make my own lunches most days now and have been known to extoll the virtue of taking a Wilkinsons flask with home made soup (well ok, the home-made soup lasted as long as the NY resolutions, but its a start...!!!!)
God, I sound REALLY grown up!!! :rotfl:
I think I am getting off the point...oops, sorry. :rolleyes:
Suggestion... OP should write their article from an amalgamation of this thread... Mags love all the BLOG stuff these days.0 -

Would a journalist from a "womens magazine" be trawling round forums such as these for a story. Maybe you could do everybody the courtesy of revealing which publisher you work for.
I'm sorry if your are genuine but asking people to send personal details to an unregulated hotmail address does seem a little bit "dodgy".
If you are genuine, I'd have a word with your IT department and get them to set you up another email address containing the "glossy magazine" or your publisher's name?
As a feature writer myself, I have to say that yes we do trawl forums looking for people who might want to be case studies, yes we do use hotmail accounts cos usually we are freelancers, and it isn;t dodgy at all.
Also, we don;t say which mag we're working for in case other journalists see what the mag we're working for is doing and steal the idea.
And I'm afraid you'd be lucky to get paid more than £100 for something like this - glossies have less money than the newspapers, which in turn pay less than real life mags.
But I agree that if we had 70k we'd be unlikely to be on here and broke - we'd have learned all of Martin's ways and be rich, rich, rich!!!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Oh yeah! I forgot to say that if you do find any case studies that earn £70k a year be kind enough to point them this way! :cool:0
