Tax via PAYE after Bankruptcy

I was made BR in Nov last year, was told the usual your will get a nil tax code etc. and had to pay what tax I did owe via a third party that the OR office arranged. I was told that once I started the new tax year I would start paying tax again or if I changed jobs get a new code, but as of yet I'm still on Nil tax code. Is this because I'm effectively starting again and have to build up to the threshold amount before paying, or is this an error? I'm putting the tax amount aside anyway, but wanted some advice from any tax bods?

your in a new tax year, NTs dont carry over, however any IPO would be adjusted, cancelling any Tax-IPO but upping your surplus-IPO (if there was any)
  • Thanks guys. There are no IPO's attached, and I've been discharged early anyway as of beginning of June. So I guess I will just pay the Tax Office directly, I will contact my payroll as well to sort out, cheers.

Contact the tax office and get them to sort it.

you mean "they dont carry on NOT paying it" surely?
  • My NT tax code wasnt changed either in April, rang tax office and they will inform work and start again this month as though it was april. They will take any tax owed in the next tax year and will just increase your contributions instead of having to pay a lump sum. I was scared to death they'd tax me for April May and June in my June payslip. Didnt know i hadnt been taxed untill May wage cos was on maternity leave and moved house and they sent my payslip to wrong address. Work said i had to fill in a form cant remember what its called but tax office said not and they would sort it, they were very helpful
