E Buyer

BEWARE. Posted a warning on consumer rights. Basically E Buyer have a 10 day returns policy. So if like me you buy something a month in advance and it ends up being a duplicate gift - they won't take it back or give a credit note. So now stuck with something I don't want.

It's bad that you have given a duplicate gift, but realistically, you should of actually read their Ts and Cs. Its a bit like when you sign a mobile contract, most people don't actually read it and moan when they can't get out of it. Personally, I often read any Ts and Cs I am presented with, and I recommend you do the same.

As long as their terms and conditions do not over ride the DSR responsibilities then they are fine. No one has to give a refund just because you change your mind and if you had bought from a High Street shop where DSRs do not apply you may well not have had any return period at all.

10 days return period seems more than fair to me.

The 7 day return period from the DSRs seems more than fair to me.

The 7 day no-quibble return period wasn't designed for things like consumer electronics (which I can only assume is what you bought on eBuyer) where 99% of people know exactly what they're getting and don't need to "examine" the goods. It was for "this cabinet is too small" and "this bed seems flimsy", not "changed my mind, don't need another hard drive."

I am not saying we should abolish this part of the DSRs, but when you're offered a 10 day return period you really shouldn't complain.

I like eBuyer. Efficient, simple to use, good contact. Yep, like em.

Yep, gotta agree 100% with you.

Wrt OP's issue, if the item "doesn't work" you've got longer to return it [but they may just send you another one, so nothing gained there....lol].

Another eBuyer user here - just waiting for a delivery (for an order placed at 4.45 yesterday) as I type. Just think about their position - in a high-turnover, competitive and low-profit business, the last thing they need is a load of stock out there, possibly going out of date by the day, where they don't actually know whether they've sold it until a month after they sent it out. Wouldn't want to be the Financial Controller for that firm.

To OP - did you think by posting in a different forum you'd get a different answer?

Grrrr this kind of post does my head in lol...

Bought lots from ebuyer, really think thy're good.

Mind you living near the M62 I think of them as "local" despite being mail order.
  • I've got to disagree here, I've purchased from Ebuyer a few times and I've always been more than happy with their services.

Maybe stick the duplicate item up on gumtree or ebay and try to sell it that way if you want the money back.
