hiya can anyone advise.
i have just got a speedtouch 576 wireless router free from aol. the router has only 1 ethenet connection in the back but i need to attach a laptop desktop & xbox 360. i could get a wireless card for the laptop but the 360 wireless adapter is £55 & i am not paying that.
i had a wired router before so i already have the wires to each appliance so thats no problem.
i presume i would need some kind of splitter to go into the router giving me 3 or 4 other connections so i can just plug in the wires & go.
thx
terry

Yes it will. Plug the laptop and the XBOX into two ports on the switch and then connect a third port on the switch to the Ethernet port on the router.

Interesting, I've never heard of that make before!alexjohnson wrote:Google...?
If you're getting a netgear switch you may as well get a netgear wireless card, to keep it all the same
something like this
You can get cheaper makes and more expensive, this is mid range.

As you have correctly concluded, you need a network switch of some description to allow more than one device to physically connect to your new router. Basically, you need to create a setup similar to that illustrated in this diagram, just without the wireless access point.blackpoolowl wrote:...the router has only 1 ethenet connection in the back
As for connecting your laptop to the router wirelessly, you'll first need to find out what kind of expansion slots (PC card or ExpressCard) it has, and whether wireless capability is not already built-in.0
