Help please - error message

Having installed an upgrade for McAfee, on start up I now get a message (two actually) stating:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfil the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

Although Outlook is installed, I use Outlook Express. When I click OK the messages go and everything works fine, but I'd love to know how to stop them in the first place. Any advice much appreciated!
