Transferring money to a closed bank account..

Hello

My sister has transferred £100 from her barclays account to my CLOSED alliance an leicester account by mistake. This account has been closed for a year and she did it last saturday, it has gone out of her account with no problem, what will happen to the money? Will it be returned to barclays?

If it was done electronically then yes I would expect the money to be returned to the originator (eventually).
If she paid it over the counter then it might well be sitting in a suspense account waiting for someone to claim it.

I have done this before and the money came back within days. You should be fine.
