  • Hi all

Sorry for the title of the thread. A friend of mine stayed at the weekend and after a glass of wine and some food felt sick - got her upstairs but she didn't make the toilet. :(

To cut a long story short the carpet is very badly stained - I was scrubbing it again last night but no joy - I tried that 1001 cleaner but not getting results...

The carpet is wool and was expensive...

Any thoughts? Someone mentioned washing powder in cold water? I am also happy to pay someone some money to clean it professionally if anyone knows of anyone..

Help would be great as my wife is all upset!

  • Hi. I've used this company a few times through my job and always found them to be excellent. http://www.cleaningdoctor.net/locate.html

    Good luck!!

  • Thanks for that - I will contact them. Any ideas on cost (sorry to be nosey)!
  • I think they charge by square meter but give him a call to check. I've used the guy who covers Belfast and the one who covers the Lisburn area - both were very friendly and did a great job. Let us know how you get on!

Make up a solution of warm water and white vinegar should do the try. White vinger is excellent on any smells on carpets really neutralises the smell

Baking soda solution meant to work as well ... but as wool carpet maybe better waiting for the professionals.

I have used cleaning doctor too, and I would also recommend them.

As for getting the smell out, I would highly recommend sprinkling dry bicarbonate of soda over the area, leaving overnight and then vacuuming. My baby daughter vomited up her milk left right and centre (once about two days after we had had the aforementioned cleaning doctor out to clean everything!) and bicarb of soda worked every time. In fact, if I hadn't discovered this, I think I would have gone mad from the smell !

I tried cleaning doctor re getting a patio cleaned after being stained. He took a good look at it and said it couldn't be done. I was really impressed that he was honest and not just talking himself into a job. If I had anything suitable for him I'd def give him a go again.
