Motorpoint 3x3 package ending
3 years ago, my husband bought a car from motorpoint on their 3x3 package-now known as boomerang. We have decided to hand the car back to them as we can't afford the final balloon payment and don't really want to take out another 3 year term on a new car. We have received the form to fill in to hand the car back and it states that our limited mileage is 39,000. we are nearly 10,000 over that. The reason for my posting is to find out if anyone else has been in this situation as I can't find anything in the original paperwork that states we had a limited mileage imposed.
I googled it and the website now says that you can hand the car back after the term with nothing more to pay (subject to mileage and conditions) but our paperwork doesn't have the brackets!
Any ideas please????

I would be surprised if the original paperwork didnt stipulate a mileage - otherwise people would take them up on their kind over, bomb 40K miles per year on it and hand it back.
The paperwork would also tell you how much per mile the excess will be. This is usually between 6p per mile and 18p per mile depending on the car and contract. I'd estimate for 9p per mile.
You should be able to get a copy of it from the finance company.0 -
There will have been an agreed mileage when you took it out as that how they arrived at the ballon payment - i.e. they have to have an assumed mileage so they can predict the value in 3 years time as the difference between a 30K car and a 100K car will be siginificant.
I would budget on your excess mileage charge being around 10p a mile depending on the model so if you have to pay £1,000 to hand it back you may be better off keeping it and not having to pay the charge0
