Childcare Vouchers - are they now a maternity 'benefit'

When you go on maternity you are entitled to keep the benefits you may have had whilst employed e.g. company car, medical plan, paid holiday etc.
I have learnt from a friend that childcare vouchers now fall into this category. Can anyone confirm this and suggest where I can learn more?
i.e. if true, would the company pay extra just so you can buy the vouchers?
Thanks
