Chicken, ham, lamb will do too (ham is especially nice with lentils). I've not tried beef stock cubes in a soup, but I would imagine that would be edible too!
Yeah you only need veggie stock for soup if you want the soup to be veggie
I make a minstrone type soup like this:
Big pot, add 3+1/2ish pints of veggie stock (adjust if you have a bigger or smaller pot), add a least 1 tin chopped tomatoes (2 if you like), add whatever veggies you have around (I add sweetcorn, onion, peppers), add a good couple handfuls of whatever pasta you have, add some garlic(puree, powder, whatever) and herbs to taste, bring to boil, simmer for about 15 mins till the pasta is cooked and serve! You could add lentils to this if you wanted to thicken it up.
For other veggie and non-veggie soup recipes check out the list at the start of the Grocery challenge.0 -
thanks for the advise, ive started on of our meals already but its gone wrong.........ho im so rubbish at been a housewife!
ive put in the slowcooker 2 jars of casserole sauce, with two of the same jars of water
added alot of mushrooms
2 decent sized beef, chopped up
1 onion
handfull of lentils
2 handfulls of oats
the problem is its so watery, i thought the lentils and oats would absorb alot of water, it looks awfull, my plan was to have it with jacket spuds tomorrow.....it looks horrible, advise is sooooo appreciated xxxxneed to pay my dad back challenge[STRIKE]£3000: £2950: £2750: £2640:£2560:£1560[/STRIKE]:D £0.00:D

Scoop out the solids into a fresh pan. Then use some of the sauce, and thicken it to go with this meal. Freezze the rest as the stock for your next casserole

You can add some plain flour to thicken it, put in a pan and bring to the boil.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
