We are thinking at the moment about moving to Scotland. We currently own our own home (value approx 160k) and so will need a mortgage to cover the difference - probably only about 20k, maybe a little more. we've seen some lovely homes, and are just trying to work out what's best to do. We can afford about £250 a month in mortgage payments, but can't decide whether we're better off getting a loan instead (or even a low life of balance credit card :rotfl: ).
I've seen some interesting first time buyer mortgages, but we don't know if we can apply for those, since it'll be our first mortgage, but not our first house.
Can anyone advise? If this should be on the mortgage board, then I'm happy for it to be moved ... just wasn't sure which board was best.
Thank you!

Hi,
Might be a good Idea if you posted on the mortgage board.. What you have to remember is the minimum pay back time on your mortgage.. as apposed to a loan etc.. not going to say anymore because im not qualified.. but if you want some advice about house purchase in Scotland ( different laws) then Im Happy to help..
