Just as another option you could use a plumbing grade adhesive for copper, such as "Just for Copper XL".

I can get a compression fitting in there, it's getting the spanner in there that will be tricky.
I've never even heard of the copper adhesive before, I am sucker for trying out new stuff, so I am quite tempted. Maybe not the best place to start experimenting though!When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Cant you just cut a length of pipe out and thrutch an new piece in,possibly suitably bent/without fittings?
(note-thrutch is a technical term used by pipe fitting aficionados)0
