Help!!!

Hi, this is my first post on here so hello one and all!

I recently read a really interesting article on here outlining the way that you can reclaim charges incurred by making late payments on credit cards or through exceeding credit limits. I was one of the lucky (didn't think so at the time) ones who had 'that' letter from egg informing them that their credit facility was being withdrawn, i've now fully repaid them and want to claim back any charges as mentioned above. The problem I have is that I foolishly shredded my previous statements and therefore I do not have the past 6 years statements to go through and work out what I may be able to reclaim.

My question to you knowledgable folk is: Are Egg legally obliged to provide me with copies of my statements and if they are how do I obtain them? Any help in this matter would be gratefully received.

Thanks

you should contact them to obtain statements but i believe they will charge for each statement and will be in the T+C on the account, most of my cards will charge £5 for each statement they reproduce to send to you, so 6 years worth may cost you a few hundred quid but check with them before you get them to send them to you
    please just thank me:p

I think if you make a subject access request under the data protection act, they can only charge a nominal amount - about £10 I think

Thanks for the reply (and the one above) do you have any idea how you make such a request then under the data protection act?

I think you're right with regards there being a limit on what they can charge but the limit is per statement. 6 years worth of statements would be pretty pricey. Alternativly you can ask them for a list of all charges incurred during the 6 years you were with them......

The most they can charge you is £10. Go down the Data protection route.
Whilst the paperwork they send you may not be in proper statement format all the information you need to try to get your charges back will be on there.

Thanks for the information everyone, my final question - does anyone know which address any data protection act enquiries need to be directed to for EGG?

The main address in Derby would be the one I would go for.
