Talk Talk Broadband & Phone

Read the links regarding Broadband & Phone packages, and decided to look around for a better deal. Been with BT for years, just because its easy, but never considered it value for money and the Broadband Speed was dreadful (even though they promise up to 8meg). With 2 X-boxes and 2 computers on the go at the same time sometimes, the Broadband speed often slowed down to 0.5meg. Changed to Talk Talk a month ago. Not only saving nearly £20 per month on Broadband, Line Rental and Free Call charges, but now have a Broadband Speed of nearly 7megs. All boys in house have now stopped chucking their toys out of the pram, back to playing quietly, rather than swearing at the lag. Should have changed ages ago, just too lazy to look around.:rotfl:

hi, I am with Virgin Media at the moment for telephone, broadband and TV and would like to find out how to be with talk talk? Do i need to just apply for a basic BT line and then contact Talk talk to sign up for their broadband?

    Thanks

You don't need a BT Line - I think this is what makes BT expensive as they have the monopoly because of the line rental. Talk Talk give you a new line (I was able to keep my BT phone number). Just type in Talk Talk Broadband and there is a link. Line Rental is £11.25 which includes the Broadband, Talk Talk Plan £6.49 which gives you free calls at the weekend and after 6pm. Then you can boost the package as you wish. I took out Anytime Calls Boost for £4 per month, and Mobiles Boost for £4 per month for free landlines calls all the time, which give you 50% discount on all mobile calls.

    1. You do need either a BT Line, a BT Compatible Line, or for Talk Talk to provide a new line to get service. Talk Talk will want you to sign a 24 month contract if you take a new line. (They charge exactly the same as BT for line rental),and BT do not have a monoply because of line rental, lots of other suppliers can provide and rent it to you.

    2. The £4 anytime call boost is a waste of money if you dont make non local peak calls as you get inclusive Local Peak Calls anyway,as well as inclusive evening and weekend calls.

    3. Whilst you might be happy with them after a short while many people are not.

Ah, so talktalk would be the answer to my rhetorical question, lol.

PS To be fair, your post also assumes you're also not worried free local calls 24/7, though. (not that I am in any way a talktalk fan, btw)
