I've just received my bill from British Gas for this quarter, gas + electricity. The gas was £17.79 and the electricity was £79.25. Does the electricity part sound a little expensive to you or is it fine? (taking into consideration I am a single person living alone).

    not for a quarter no that sounds perfectly reasonable

    your paying about 71p per day .. that sounds about right

    you can reduce consumtion by getting energy saving lightbulbs, standby switches that turn things off at certain times , making sure all unnesscary devices are unplugged when not in use . etc

    Im with BG on websaver 3, and just had my statement and between 12th May and 5th June (24 days) we have used.

    gas £15.16 roughly 63p a day

    284.33kwh = 11.84kwh per day

    elec £50.93 roughly £2.03 a day

    587 kwh = 24.45kwh per day

    I am really chuffed with this bill, 4 adults in house and now down to 2 as 2 lodgers have left, coupled with warmer weather im hoping to get this down a bit more as summer goes on!

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

    Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

    Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

    Soudns Ok to me, but I guess it depends on your lifestyle - Do you cook with gas or electric ? What about your heating ? Do you run a washer / dryer and how often ? Are you in all day ?

    Also might be an idea to see if the bill is based on an actual reading or an estimate. I know the weathers warmer now, but if the gas has been estimated you might get a not too pleaseant surprise next quarter
