I went to Hendra about 5 years ago, so some things may have changed. The site itself was very nice and clean. Night time entertainment was brilliant!! Kids entertainment during the day was ok, but thought at the time that they could have improved this by having more clubs for the kids. There was a fantastic indoor pool, but other local people were allowed to use it, so it was busy all the time (saying that though isnt everywhere busy lol), and there was also an outdoor pool for really hot days. On site there was a small shop, and an arcade for the kids. All in all i found that it was an ok hoilday, just as i say, wish there was more for the kids but things may have changed.
Newquay town isnt that far away but you will need to drive or get the bus that stops right outside the camp. Plenty of gorgeous beaches to choose from too, so do your homework before you go to find them all.
Have a great time!!0 -
Beaches look good, just hope weather is decent!

As one of the local people Hendra is brilliant! The pool is great. Newquay is a very touristy maybe slightly downmarket place. Great for stag and hen nights and nightclubs. Around Newquay are lots of more upmarket places if that is what you want. I'd get the Cornish Guardian when you get down there and check out the vouchers. If you have kids Flambards or Goonhilly will be the highlights, and maybe the beaches. Bedruthan steps is lovely if the children are a little older - there are a lot of steps down to the beach, scary with toddlers - Rick Stein's bistro if you are all adults is in Padstow. the coast path is fantastic. The Eden Project if you are a keen gardener... There are some great National Trust properties down there, and English Heritage.0

We've stayed at Hendra the last 2 years. Last time was May half term. The caravans are nice, well kept site. Pool can have very long queues at busy times especially if its raining. There is an outside pool too but its never been warm enough for us to use it. We're not keen on the entertainment so just stay there on a Sun holiday deal and use it to explore.
Watergate bay is nice, Jamie Olivers Fifteen restaurant is there. Further on is Padstow, Rick Stein has quite a few places in Padstow such as his fish and chip shop, patisserie etc. Dairyland is nearby if you have children with you, Flambards, Creally Park, St Ives etc worth visiting.
There is a bus stop right outside the park, assume it goes into Newquay so should be ok for that but not sure where else you will be able to go without your own transport.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Food sounds good! Nice one...0

Getting into newquay should be fine, but getting around without a car can take a bit of effort... Can you ring the tourist office, I think there is one in newquay or there is one in Wadebridge and they could maybe send you a bus timetable or give you a better idea. Is that info on line? I think you will end up having to go places at certain times to fit in with public transport, but the annoyance should be compensation for the fact it is impossible to park sometimes.0

The family pitched our tent at Hendra quite a few years ago. Must say I hated it but it was at the height of school holidays. There was only about 2 yards between the tent pitches and we could hear our neighbours breaking wind in the morning! We never saw the entertainment as we could never get in the club house. From what I saw people were reserving seats at 6pm. Very, very, crowded when we were there but it could have changed recently. Each to their own I guess.0
