Net access deals for the disabled?

Options
I was wondering if there are any broadband deals for people with disabilities?. My mum has MD & consequently spends alot of time in bed, I have bought her a laptop with net access being paid by me, its costing me a fortune!!!!!, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • I don't know of any special internet access deals for disabled people though I think it would be a good idea. The most likely place for assistance would be through a special MD charity such as Muscular Dystrophy Campaign also contacting your local library/welfare rights organisation might also be a good idea as they may have a directory of grant providing charities/institutions locally who might be willing to fund this.

If your mum is bedridden then presumably she is getting the Higher Rate Mobility Component of DLA which as she is not going out could be diverted to paying for her internet access. Although the money is provided for mobility there is no complusion on how the money is actually spent. If she isn't getting DLA high rate mobility then, if she is under 65, she should claim as soon as possible. Further details canl be provided if necessary.
