Tax credit Annual Review Query

Hi,

I have received an annual review letter (despite only just applying for tax credits). The form asks to contact HMRC if joint income for 2007 to 2008 was less than 2009 - which it was.

They did not ask this question on the original claim form. Does this mean we will be entitiled to a greater payment due to less income in the previous year? Have tried to call them but cant get through.

Many thanks for any info.

Comments

  • They are possibly asking for this info if you are getting your claim backdated for 3 months. If the 3 months backdating falls in to the previous tax year (before 6th April) they wouls ask for yous 07/08 income as tax credits are based on the previous year's income.
