Bank Charges

I read a letter on here which has now confused me.
I have had my claim with Halifax now for over a year, which is obviously on hold.
Halifax have now sent my account to a collection agency, who say they can't send the account back to Halifax and can only hold the account for 14 days.
Is this right seeing as I have had my claim in for more than a year now, Should it be with the collection department or still be with the bank??
This letter I read said something about collections not being able to pursue when there is a claim on hold.
Anybody know what I should do???
Thanks in advance

Tell them that the account is in dispute since you have a bank charges claim against halifax which they have already acknowledged. If they pursue the debt you will report them to the OFT with regards to debt collection guidelines and pursuing a claim for a disputed debt.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
