Does it have any service history? Is it one owner from new?
I don't think the mileage at that age would make a huge difference to the price, as I have found out myself. I only do low mileage and it doesn't seem to make any difference when it comes to P/X value it just makes a car more desirable to some people, but I think condition is more important. You can get low mileage cars that have been smoked in, eaten in, not maintained properly so as long as the bodywork, interior and running gear matches the mileage and it isn't overpriced I can't see a problem.
ML.He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0 -
The service history would be a key point to me. Despite being 3k miles it should have had a good few services by now and many parts will likely come due for replacement for age.
Tbh I dont think it having 3k miles is a good thing that makes it worth much more and would sincerly question why its so low. Cars need to be run in and get regular use or suffer for it.0 -
if its like one of my fat neighbours cars it could well be !!!!!!ed
she has a 5 year old car, it does about 10 trips under 1/4 of a mile day (to drop the fat children at the school less than 1 minutes walk away, to the take away less than 2 minutes walk away and then to local shop next to the take away)
It has about 4k on it and has never got warm!0 -
Thanks everyone for your advice. I was concerned that it had only been used for lots of very short trips, which I understand is not very good for a car.0

you're right, it is not ideal. Is the car diesel or petrol? Diesels suffer worse from continuous short trips. But it is nothing a good service, and a long road trip won't fix0 -

One thing to bear in mind is that exceptionally low mileage cars tend to be priced highly, BUT once you've driven it a couple of years then the mileage will have almost equalled out and the car you've paid a premium for has become just like any other car.
Often because of the price premium asked, you can buy a car a year or more younger with average miles for the same money.
Can you give us some details on model, price etc?0
