Hello I am looking for a notary public in Aberdeen to witness our signatures on our declaration of marrage for getting married in australia. Does anyone know if there is a list of who can perform this act?

Did a few searches on Google but it just came up with the MD's of several oil companies and i dont think they are gonna give up thier time to witness a signature.

According to the Law Society of Scotland, most but not all solicitors are also notary publics. I would suggest contacting a local solicitor to find out.

I got married in Oz last December. :j
I live in Northern Ireland so it might be a bit different, but I looked through the yellow pages for a Notary Public and found a few.
Then I rang them to ask questions/make an appointment with one.
All the Notary Publics I found were also solicitors.
It cost me £10 to have my document signed and officially stamped.
You only need to get the intention to marry document stamped. Don't let them charge you for stamped birth certficates etc as this is not needed.
They have to witness your birth certificates and other documentation if you are divorced or widowed. Then they stamp and sign your form, you pay them and then you take all your documentation away with you to sunny Australia where your marriage celebrant gets to see it all.
