Price for Painting Outside of House

Options
Hi,
Have had some quotes for painting the outside of the house - it is an ex-council 3 bed with single story extension with flat roof currently dirty greay pebbledash circa 1959 - nice!!. Price to do everything was quoted as £1400 with all paint and £1500 without. Waiting for third to come in. Are these reasonable?

Anyone got any ideas on what exterior paint is the best.

Got to have the Cream V White argument with my husband yet (I'm voting white!)

Thanks

C
Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.

iwould have thought that 100 for materials is being a bit optimistic
pebble dash drinks paint up unless it's reasonably smooth and how much of the house is covered , i've used 20x 5 ltres on a house before and it wasn't that big
5 litres of dulux weathershield start at around 25ish for ready mixed or a few quid more for mixed - go for the trade version rather than diy store stuff , also you may need a fungicide wash if there is any algae or mould on walls or stabilizing if there are any powdery spots then you've got all your u/coat gloss / primer and all the other bits and pieces that you need ,
i would say that your prices aren't too bad ,

Dulux Weathershield and Sandtex are both good exterior paints.

White is cheaper than colours but will show the dirt quicker.

thanks for the replies! I know it would be cheaper to do ourselves but as we run our own business it is that balance between paying someone and earning whilst we work or taking the time off and not earning - if that makes sense! I'm def all for saving money espec as we don't have lots and have four kids but.... I like jobs finished too!!

Those prices sound reasonable enough. I'm assuming though that windows, soffits etc are in the price.

Can I just advice, however, that while a [time-served] decorator will do the best job possible on your home, the paint price maybe a different story. Ask for the cost of materials first, find out what brand he/she is using. Dulux Weathershield at £20 for 5Lt is toooo expensive. You can get cheaper, not from B&Q mind but price an independent or dec centre. If anything, go for Sandtex... it's just as good but alot cheaper. On Sunday past I got 8 big 10Lt buckets of Sandtex Magnolia for £23.99 at a place called Painters Choice... I don't know if there's one near you.

All I will say is that it may well be better to get the materials yourself :)

I painted my house white once. Big mistake.
Saw neighbour had painted theirs cream with white window sills - win.

Had mine done cream/white sills next - gorgeous.
