Painting Concrete Window Sill

Options
Hello

I have recently had new UPVC windows fitted in my house built in the 1860's.

The previous timber frames were up the spout. The front sill had to be filled with concrete. However it all needs painting again.
What is the best way to remove the paint from the front of the window sill, if I need to at all?

flat scraper or wire brush, just to remove the loose bits, then repaint with masonary paint.

There are no loose bits on the front so I will can just paint it all. Couple of coats of masonary? Or do i need to use any other type of paint?

If there are no loose bits, then just rub it with a bit of fine snadpaper or wet and dry to 'key' the surface then masonary paint as stated. Nothing else needed

JK, masonry paint is the best to use on sills. However, you can't put masonry on to previously painted gloss paint. You'd need to make sure the sills weren't done in gloss before. Otherwise, you'll have to undercoat before you put the masonry on. If the sills were done in a gloss, and you use normal masonry paint to coat over them they will flake within months.

Alternatively, use Zinsser Exterior Satin, it's pretty much the same as masonry but it sticks to everything!
