income support/child tax

Hi I am a single parent of 3 currently on income support and also recieve child tax and housing benefit and child support... my question regards saving I have some savings also my 2 sons have saving I am wondering what the limits for my saving are before any changes to my benefits are made also I am due quite a large amount coming for my sons due to a family bereavement which I have 2 savings accounts in which I opened for them the accounts i think I am the trustee does my boys savings affect my benefits at all... the bank advised because they are my sons names it can't affect but my name is also on the pass book does this matter... I am tottally lost i know there are limits for myself just not sure what but really unsure about childrens savings... help needed

  • The savings do not affect tax credits but I think they might affect income support. Someone else can probably give you a definitive answer on that.
