Ebay saying i cannot charge more than £0.00 for postage

I have just attempted to list a cap on Ebay and entered £1.50 postage and a message came up stating in this category I could not charge more than £0.00?? Is this correct and if so does this mean I have to offer free postage?? Thank you

They have introduced mandatory free postage for Clothing Accessories, so I'm afraid you can't charge for it. It is very annoying.

Just add the P&P onto the starting price - the buyer sees the word "free", when in reality it means "inclusive" - but free looks a lot better!

It will costs lsightly more to list it this way, but there is a free listing day tomorrow that you could take advantage of.

    Thank you Steve

Am I able to pay 6p for stating a forward start time ( ie tomorrow ) and still benefit from the free listing day??

    Thank you for your help

I know there is Turbo lister but never really got the hang of it so happy to pay 6p
  • This happened to me last week when I was trying to list a hat under Girls accessories. I tried a few times but nothing so all I did in the end was list it under Baby (Age range in hat was 6-23 months) and it was accepted.

If you list in the wrong category you are breaking ebay rules so there is a chance you will get reported to ebay

I think I have found the answer to my own question:

" Any item previously scheduled to go live on Thursday 25th of June 2009 will qualify for the promotion."
  • Hi Cyberbob
I had originally posted under Baby (age range)but thought it would reach a wider audience under Girls accessories. I am definately not pulling a fast one, nothing wrong done on my account.
    Cheers anyway

If you schedule it for 11pm on Thursday, you can go into the listing before this time, and edit it to go live straight away, saving you the 6p scheduled fee.

Yes - the fees are calculated/displayed at the time you save the listing, not the price it will be when it goes live. You are not charged until the listing is submitted.
