Vendor has died between exchange and completion

Well we are nearly there now! Because we had exchanged the legal proceedings have been rushed through very quickly, full probate wasn't required and the vendor has been granted "consent to proceed" or something along those lines. Credit to the vendor's family, they have been incredibly efficient at completing the process which sounded reasonably involved. We are now due to complete on 31st July and very much looking forward to it, but not sure I will really believe it now until we walk through the front door.0

Agreed - it makes a very pleasant change0 -
Just a final update to wrap the good news up, we completed as planned on Friday and have had a great weekend getting stuck in to the many, many, MANY cleaning/decorating/fixing/gardening tasks required with a lot of help from friends and family. 6 weeks until we move in and lots to do before then, but it's great - we knew it was going to be a project! Thanks for all the advice and good wishes.0

Congrats sascor - glad it all worked out well for you.
All the best in your new home0 -
Congratulations it just shows what can be done when everyone involved is motivated.0

Well done sascor, glad you got it all sorted out and hope you enjoy your new home!“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Congratulations to you, all the best!!
p.s - Thank you for coming back and updating, many people don't!"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
I guess the critical thing was that you had both signed the contract?
Was it a sole owner selling?
Something similar to this happened to me but the other way round.
I and a co-owner, were selling as joint owners (not owners in common), so I as sole remaining "trustee" and now sole legal owner, was able to carry on and exchange and complete the transaction with only (say) a delay of 10 days while the relevant extra forms were obtained and filled in.
That said, I would advise you to make sure that your registration at the Land Registry is correct and registered on time.0
