Adoption Leave - Am I realy not entitled to Anything?

Hi all,

I am a single parent, working full time and I am due to take 9months leave from work soon as I am adopting a little boy. I have been advised that I am only going to be allowed to claim the Statutory Adoption pay which is £123.06 per week, for the full duration.

I have a mortgage etc to pay and was wondering if I could claim any benefits. I currently receive wftc/ctc.

I have a little money saved up, which was to be put aside for emergencies, but I have been advised that I can't claim anything on top of the SAP?

Does anybody have any ideas if I will be able to claim Council tax benefit or working families tax credits whilst I will be off for the 9 months?

Any help very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Twinkletoes

Will you be fostering the child while you wait for the adoption to go through? If so, you should receive the fostering allowance from Socail Services as well.
  • No, im not fostering the child. Its a straight forward adoption, thanks.
