Have you spoken to an IFA? Would seem the most logical first port of call.
  • Ins company's won't touch me even though a fitter than a lot of people.

A bit of research on Marfan syndrome shows that is can produce a large number of potential issues in later life, some of which include strain to the heart and heart valves.

To put it simply it is an ongoing issue and I am glad that you are in good health, however the insurance underwriters will be looking at in in a very clinical way. I have clients myself with what I would class as relatively minor ailments but underwriting for life insurance where there already is a pre-existing condition is very tight, and it's sometimes impossible to find the cover that people would like.

Bear in mind also that if you have been turned down for cover with other companies you would need to declare this on any future applications.

A better place for advice may be to speak to someone in one of the stroke charities or support networks as they may have access or knowledge of specialist who may be able to help.

One contributor here - Pedro123456 - I have seen before posting details on travel insurance companies who will cover those with pre existing conditions.

I'd like to thank everybody for their advice. Looks like I will have to carry on without it and hope I last a long time

They work with a company called Heath Lambert who are a specialist broker.

I have no experience of this service but they may well be able to point you in the right direction.

    Good luck.

Pulse Insurance would be a good punt, https://www.pulse-insurance.co.uk.

They are an award winning insurance broker - I've used them before for my clients who have non-standard and difficult to place life policies and always find them very helpful.

Definantly good people to do business with.

    Hi pitman

This is a support group that may well be able to help, they have different forums to post questions on.

This IC lists Marfan syndrome as a coverable condition, somewhat reckons they are ok.

May I suggest you get an actual “diagnosis” for your “small stroke” from your GP this may well be diagnosed as a TIA, which is similar but not the same as a stroke.

A clear diagnosis of this stroke/TIA, and a diagnosis of Marfan Syndrome, will help clarify your Pre Existing Medical Conditions when you contact Insurance Companies for p[otential cover.

    Rudekid has given Strke info.

    Good Luck
