iPods are so overrated it's actually unbeliveable. Yes they look good, but that's about it. They are the biggest rip off - including this new colour one at £350! Apple were the first company to produce something that met demand in the MP3 player market for something like the iPod, but now there are plenty of other alternatives. iPod's are way too common now IMO.

I have just bought a Rio Karma for £190 and love it - it's so much better than an iPod for many reasons. Take a look here if you want something better than the iPod

And as for the iPod mini....£180 for 4GB!! What a mad price to pay when you can get 20GB players for less!

I wouldn't knock your model as I have never tried it. i do, however, have an ipod and it is absolutely wonderful.

Which 'computer?' The only reason why you'd choose an iPod for functional / integration reasons over another MP3 player is simply because you've got an Apple Mac. If you have a PC, then this comment is seriously ... er... inaccurate.

And, Apple are also in trouble with their iTunes site as they're overcharging us Brits... but they know how to squeeze a marketplace.

But, then again, people bought the new VW Beetle even though it had less headroom in the back, risible boot-space and poorer overall room than the CHEAPER VW Golf...

If you prefer style over substance, aesthetics over value, go for the iPod. This is not just my view (as I am about to get an MP3 player) but the view of almost all editorial reviews I have read so far...

They are good machines, but at a cost of about 20-30% over other good qualirt machines with often greater HD space, and more functionality.

totally agree, although I had an Ipod and sold it to buy a Sony Vaio pocket 40gb (£220 misprice at Ebuyer). This has a colour screen and the sound quality IMHO is better than the Ipod, plus the battery lasts a lot longer which was really annnoying on the Ipod. The Ipod is really a fashion statement (or a "please mug me" statement in a lot of townd and cities!)
