Question about powerflushing

Options
Hello

I'm going to be getting quotes in for a new boiler installation before too long - and since my radiators are ancient and ugly I'm going to get them replaced with nice fresh modern radiators while i'm at it.

My question is - would I expect the gas men to quote me for flushing the system in a case like this or do the new radiators take care of it? If it makes a difference, the old system is a back boiler that's already given up the ghost and will have been switched off for at least a year before the new system is installed.

Advice much appreciated - It always helps to know what you're talking about when you get the chaps in to quote!

My understanding is that it is recommended to have a new water filter, the system flushed and an inhibitor added when you have a new boiler fitted. Even if you replace the radiators then you will still have the muck in the pipes.

These should be detailed on the quote so you know exactly what you are getting. Don't go there but British Gas emphasise that they do all of this as an excuse for their skyhigh prices but everyone who quoted us also did the same without the hard sell :-)

for how much a power flush will cost id maybe think about renewing the pipes as they will be as old as the rads and back boiler. the copper pipes dont last forever and changing the radiators could agrevate movement onto the old pipes therefore causing leaks in the future

New pipes still need flushing though to get shot of any swarf built up on the inside.

Ooo, I don't fancy new pipes - I don't want all the floors and things ripped up. I'll take the risk on just new radiators I think.
