    Sergio: Re...
I only posted this problem of mine for advice, not to be stoned to death. I can't believe the bitterness, negativeness and the venomous comments it has received.

Apologies for any affront caused: Could you kindly indicate anything I wrote that was untrue, please?

Feel free to insult me in any way you see fit (or indeed would consider unfit..). Others have insulted me before: I'm confident more will in future.

Cheers & best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me..

when your mother bought the property there would have been a lot of paperwork sent to her to look at, read and sign, and somewhere in that her solicitor would have asked her if the details were correct. so i suggest that this may be a clerical error which Islington made, but, which you also may have compounded by not noticing when signing the documents.

but i do agree with the others - i would leave well alone and enjoy the property

btw - everyone who buys flats has management costs - some private flats are paying £60-£100 a week - i doubt islington are charging your mum that much ....

sergio pippo, most working class people these days don't get taxpayer-subsidised accommodation or RTB. Your parents were extremely lucky. You are being a bit over dramatic in your posts, by the way.

i wonder if council housing IS tax-supported ? i know it used to be a long time ago - but council rents have gone up consistently as far as i know.

Admittedly not as high as private landlords' rents (as on the whole we do not have access to the economies of scale savings which large HAs have)

Would a fourth bedroom make a material variance to the property valuation ?

Was the property structurally altered at some point? To be made into a 3 bed?

    I volunteer helping disadvantage families.

Would those be the same families that cannot get social housing because it was all sold off to people like your parents?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Thank you for responding with your wide ranging comments.

I have not been offended by them. In fact they have been enlightening.

I feel there is an anger out there fuelling peoples ideas and beliefs. The comments have been direct at time but not directly personal ?.

    Kind regards.

For goodness sake you lot, be nice to Sergio. This is not about debating the merits of RIGHT to buy. If you heve a problem with this take it up with Mrs Thatcher. What Sergio's mother did was simply make use of the offer available and the paperwork may not have been right at the time.
All he is asking is advice about any course of rectifying this mastake. This site is about consumer rights and it may be the case here that his mother paid more than she should have.
If Tescos were advertising a pack of four loo rolls at a discounted price and there were only three in the packet would you be happy.
That said, in a house sale you employ a solicitor to look after your interests and they should spot anything wrong with the contract.
  • Thank you, Paddy2eyes. Your comments are appreciated.
