Hi, I am getting myself VERY confused.
I have just bought a dvd recorder and i am wanting to record episodes of a show so i would hope to get a few episodes per disk. Do i need dvd-r or dvd-rw? Is the difference that a dvd-r can only be recorded once? Its confusing me and any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Carrie

Your right a dvd-rw can be recorded on upto 1000 times whereas a dvd-r can be recordered on once (unless you use it on a pc and start a multi session)
rw stands for re-writeable0 -
Thank you James' Dad, i need to buy some dvd-rw's then i think. Cheers, Carrie xAccept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0

Make sure your DVD recorder needs -R disks and not +R - I assume you have already checked that out ! We use R for stuff to keep and RW for general watch it once stuff. Keep the discs carefully as they can easily get scratched and not play properly. To infinity and beyond!0 -
I thought most DVD recorders support multisession too. I can record series one episode at a time a week apart using a Panasonic DVD recorder and DVD-R discs (you can also do the same with DVD-RW I would have thought, except the Panasonic doesn't do RW so I can't confirm). Recording once and rewriting isn't the same as being able to add recordings at a later date0

Whats the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r? Getting amazingly confused now, this is why i should stick away from electronics :rolleyes:Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0

They are different formats.
Most DVD players can paly both formats, but will probably only be able to write 1 of the formats. This is why you need to make sure that you buy the correct format discs for your DVD recorder. To infinity and beyond!0 -
This is the model i got so i need the dvd+r/rw's, right?

In addition to the comments you already have, you also might want to try the below links as they can have useful info for all levelled users. Plus you can ask DVD related questions to people who are so-called experts.

I'm glad that I mentioned +R and +RW now - Yes those are the discs you require (same as me!)
Make sure you do not buy -R and -RW as they will not work in that machine.
Cheers
