Hi,
I recently bought myself a 4 port switch (Linksys - Model BEFSR41) so i could play PS3 online whilst the computer was in use at the same time.
Since I did this the speed of my connections has died completely!!! Trying to play PS3 games and the screen keeps jumping and when I also play Football Manager 2008 over the net my mates runs so slowly its a joke.
Previously before i bought the router both were absolutely fine. I have read all about port forwarding and have tried to do this but i think im just making it worse. I also tried using a programme called Hamanchi to setup a VPN but this doesnt seem to have helped.
When i disconnect the router and go back to how it was before it seems to have affected the connection somehow and still runs slowly.
Could someone please tell me how best to go about this in simple terms as its beginning to get really frustrating.
Many thanks.

First up, how do you know theres no-one here able to help? Weve a full range of techie people on here.
Also ~ I post on that forum myself and have a pretty good idea how PS3s work (More than most on there and thats for sure):idea:0 -
Burton. Its impossible to advice with simple instructions until we know EXACTLY what it is youve done. I would advise setting 'Hamanchi' back to 'standard' settings (ie, before you installed it) then uninstall it
Turn everything off (Including the router). Turn the router on and wait till it stops flashing then power up the pc. It could take a few days for the router to settle properly (ie, it could be slower than normal for a few days)
If after that time its STILL not right then clearly 'Hamanchi' has changed something it shouldnt have (Ive personally never used it so not too sure)
Have you changed any router settings other than port forwarding?:idea:0 -
I didn't mean that the original op couldn't find the answer here, but generally anything tecchie AV forums is usually a good port of call as you know cos you post there yourself! I must, I must, get my post average up to 1 a day!!

No worries. Maybe I missread what you ment. It looked to me like you were saying we simply dont have a clue on here.
In terms of computers were not too bad on here (And certainly far better than most on the hifi/av forums)
Tvs and the like I would head for the av forums as thats what they excel at (But again, im no numpty):idea:0 -
Well I guess any advice as long as it works is good advice, wherever it comes from, I have had good advice on the MSE main pages regarding computer stuff, but I have had some really good advice from the AVF (there are some real geeks on there- you know what I mean!) so I'll check both places myself, when I need to.:money:I must, I must, get my post average up to 1 a day!!
