I've recently downloaded Open Office and wondered what format I should save my files so other people without this software can read it?

rtf files can be opened with a myriad of different versions of software0

You can also export documents in Portable Document Format.

And the default format for OpenOffice can be read by many other programs. It depend who you are sending to.0
