Hi
I am looking for advice against Post office car insurance.
I had an accident two days ago where I hit a deer. Contacted post Office to make my claim to be told that my excess is £500. I have my policy which I downloaded after I made the payment for my insurance last year and it states my excess is £250.
Post office are claiming that was a quote and example of a policy I have downloaded and it shows on their system it is £500 and basically if I dont pay this I dont get my car fixed.
Any advice would be gratfeully appreciated as I have spent about 5 hours on the phone to them and am getting nowhere.
TIA

The excess you are required to pay and the circumstances in which they apply will be detailed in the Schedule. That is personal to you and forms the basis of the contract. What does the Schedule state? If you will the end, you must will the means.0

As Stafffie stated check you Schedule and check what it says for "Voluntary Excess" and also "Compulsory / Policy Excess" as these two will be added together to arrive at the total excess.0
-
And also check your policy booklet for any Young/Inexperienced driver excesses (if you're under 25, hold a provisional licence or have held a full licence for less than a year).0

On my schedule at the excess information bit it tells me to refer to my policy.
Also I am 46 and have 9 years no claims.
They are claiming it is an example of a quote I have downloaded, however it has my insurance police number on the document.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as meantime I am sitting without a car.

So what transpired when you referred to your policy?0 -
Did they email or send the quote through to you in the post? If so what does it say on there0

Sounds like a bit of a tacky insurance company to me (oh, it's the Post Office!) enough said.
I've never dealt with an insurance company that does not send through personalised paperwork in the form of a Schedule, etc.If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
Did you get a confirmation e-mail when you took it out? Look through your deleted e-mails?
If you bought it over the phone, request they listen to the call recording to see if you were mis-advised?0
