    Yes that is what i wanted to know, currently i am on minimum wage, which means i am unable to claim this benefit.

  • Housing benefit cannot be claimed for a property which is owned by family or spouse of the tenant anyway.In my town a woman was put in prison for claiming housing benefit for a property her mum owned and had to repay about £10k in benefits.At least she would have got free accomodation and food for a few months.
    Basically you cant claim for a "family home".

    This isn't strictly accurate. You can rent from a family member who you do not live with, but only if it is all above board and a legitimate tenancy.
