Firstly, what course are you looking at? Where? What degree classification do you have/are predicted? Are you thinking of doing a PhD?
There is little funding for masters students, even less for those not in the sciences, and even less again if you aren't wanting to go on and do a PhD.0 -

Here are the details:
Course = MA Sports Journalism.
Where = Sheffield Hallam University.
Degree classification I have = will be either low 2:1 or high 2:1, in German.
PhD? = Very unlikely.
Thanks a lot!0 -
To be honest, you're probably going to have to look at self-funding through savings or through a Career Development Loan (loads of info online about them). The department should have information about any funding help they provide through bursaries or teaching placements, but again, it's unlikely for masters students.0

I quite agree with this - you'll almost certainly have to look at self funding and most people do this with a CDL.0

If relevant to your current work, is there any possibility of securing a grant through your employer / associate organisation?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

apart from a CDL, it may be worth trying to work for a year to save up some of the fees. other than that, there are very few options. (and a lot of people would say that work experience will be critical to get a job in the media - are you on the student paper etc etc?):happyhear0

I have no media experience after 4 years of university, unfortunately. It's somehow something I have only recently given serious thought to, as I went through university not having any idea at all what I wanted to do post-uni. Worked abroad during uni as a teaching assistant and have now ruled out teaching as I hated it..
I have a contact who works for BBC Sport and writes stuff for the BBC football website, have e-mailed him and asked him for advice, hopefully he'll respond soonish.
Instead of working for a year, saving up, then doing MA, I might actually reverse it.. take out a CRL, do MA, then, if no 'career' job shows up immediately just find a decently-paid job and work for a year/however long it takes to pay off £9k or whatever it will cost to fund the year.. should be about 9 months of full time work whilst living at home! Could be out of 'MA' debt in February 2011 and back 'in' 'BA' debt immediately after!0 -
I'm in the same boat as well at the moment. Just finished my BSc in Computing and have applied to do an MSc in Advanced Web Engineering, just waiting for my undergrad results. The main issue is funding and I'm looking into the possibility of getting a CDL as well as working as many hours in my part time job as possible over the summer.
Echoing what other posters have mentioned though. Funding for masters courses is few and far between unfortunately.Saving for a house deposit and associated costs:

I wouldn't hesitate to get a CDL.. I could earn about £2500 from July - September quite easily I would imagine - enough to cover accommodation for a year to do a MA..
Then just the small amount of £6580 to be recouped!0
