Garden consultant, Hampshire South?

Hi
Is there such a thing as a garden expert, who can come round, test the soil, look at the conditions and advise planting schemes? I do not want to go for a full garden design, but have a few problems and issues, but love my garden. It would be great to get someone round, who could suggest help where it is needed.

I know a lecturer of mine (Horticulture College) is dabbling in something like that but she is expensive at around £600/day.
Probably better to find out at the nearest college/uni that do Horticulture if they know of anyone local.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!
