Question about BT

ok the reason why i have BT landline is because i need it to connect my orange livebox (broadband - adsl) is there any other way i can do this without BT, to cut down costs as its expensive doing it this way.
i'd go elsewhere but my broadband is only £5 a month i got it on a deal 2 years ago because i have orange mobile and i dont want to lose it. yes it is definately £5 per month, well less because of the vat changes and no it will not change its this price or life
i dont use bt for calls just purely on the broadband as it has a VOIP socket on it so i make all my free 01/02 and orange mobile calls on that?
any help appreciated!

If you live in 'an Orange Broadband Network Area' (allegedly 65% of all UK homes), you could save about £2/month by changing to Orange line rental (£10.50/month).
However, they all seem to follow BT price rises so I expect it won't be £10.50/month for long.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
A naked landline with BT is not significantly more expensive than with other providers. The main savings with other bundles would be in calls - but as they are already covered for you that doesn't matter.
Technically switching to a different BT landline provider should not change the availability of Orange broadband but it hardly seems worth the risk for a (probably temporary) saving of a pound or less per month. It is unlikely Orange will let you change and remain on the same terms if a break in connection occurs (but I may be wrong about that). Their current prices are £10 or £15 per month for broadband.0 -
heinzi dont quite understand i thought orange only operate their broadband via BT lines, thats how i connect? My Signature is MY OWN!!0

You dont need a BT proper line to get broadband delivered to you by your ISP. Any BT compatible line Orange, Sky,Post Office etc etc will do.0

Before changing to save a few pence on your line rental, consider Kim,s comments in post 3.0 -

i'd like to know more about this, as i said above far as i am aware orange needs an active BT line for broadband to work.
anyone else know more about this as stated by heinzMy Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

It appears you can only get Orange HomePhone Line Rental if you take Orange Max.
