I got gazumped on my house last year, first time i paniced and upped my offer by 3k, the second time i told them where to go. After 1 month they call me to ask if i was still interested, of course i was but at 10k less then the original offer. Got the keys 5 weeks later!

Son did something similar - there were 3 offers in for a repo, agent contacted him as he was driving down a motorway asking him to up his offer - on speaker phone he told them take it or leave it. Next day they rang to say it was his.0

VickyB, Hethmar,
Thanks, stories like this bring a smile to my face. I'll let you know if I hear anything more on this property... if I do I certainly won't be matching my last offer0 -
This kind of behaviour doesn't at all surprise me about House Network.
Thus far they seem extremely unprofessional!0 -
Yes, they tried to tell me there was someone else interested in the house I'm buying - I didnt believe it for a moment and my offer was accepted0

The thing that shocks me about all your responses are that some of you are saying the housenetwork are trying to get a better price, if they are they are trying to get a higher price the only one who will benefit is the vendor.
Just look at the housentwork website, sellers pay a up front fee, they have a choice of three options, and whatever the seller chooses, they pay a set amount.
Simply pay the £345+vat and we will not charge you a completion fee. - Download contract example
Pay £249+vat upfront and we will only charge a £299+vat completion fee - Download contract example
Pay a reduced upfront fee of £199+vat and pay £499+ vat on completion - Download contract example
So i ask why would the housentwork lie and say someone as put a bigger offer in??
When it would not make any difference to what they get as they dont work on a percentage?????I am not a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as not being a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. And why would they bother to offer a reasonable service then they aren't commission based?
Answer: they don't!0 -
And why would they bother to offer a reasonable service then they aren't commission based?
Answer: they don't!
Why ask a question and then answer it yourself??
Look at 2 of the options they dont get the remainder of the fee until completion, so yes they do need to sell to make a profit, plus they still have to pay for advertising whilst the house is still for sale.
You sound really bitter, what have they done to you?I am not a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as not being a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I would say it is a blessing in disguise.Stick to your guns and if they don't come back start looking for another place. It is still a buyer's market out there.By next year, house prices will be even lower when all the green shoots have withered away.0
