2 smoke alarms for £4-98!

I just purchased 2 smoke alarms from Woolworths for £4-98 (normal price). In the past i have bought the same make from tesco at £8-99, so a bargain i see. Same alarm for 1 pack in Wilk for about £3-99.
Worth buying for a fiver. Best to have at least one smoke alarm downstairs and one upstairs as minimum. BTW when we renewed our house insurance the insurance rep stated that the house must have a smoke alarm down and upstairs.

Lancashire Fire service give them for free they also visit you and give fire safety advice. I am a firefighter, everybody should have a smoke alarm regardless of cost!
Ps. 1 detector upstairs On the ceiling not the wall (landing) and 1 detector downstairs (hall). This is what we tend to fit. Flats in the hall.0 -
out 4 nowt
i live in a bungalow and have one smoke alarm in the middle of the hall is this sufficent? Dont want one to near the kitchen as i tend to burn a lot of things ;D
Also remember to check the batteries regularly and replace them once a year. Or spend a bit extra on the smoke alarm and get one wired to the mains. And still test it once a month.
I burn a bit of paper under mine to test that it works properly.0 -
Keep kitchen door closed when cooking and close all doors at night this will help contain a fire.
Rule of thumb: Detectors are located to protect the way out.
You can now get ten year sealed smoke detectors no more battery changing. Thats what we fit.0 -
Ps. It all depends on the bungalow if it is of average size then it should be ok.0
