limit for debit cards?

i have a question - can you put a limit on the amount of money that is drawn out on a particular debit card? i know there is a limit of £250 per day but say for example you have a joint account and your partner takes out more money than need be, can you limit how much he/she takes out per day/week?

No you can't, because you will find if you've been daft enough to have a joint account with someone that all the money in the account belongs 100% to them (as well as 100% to you).

No, and even if you could, they could ask for the limit to be removed as they have equal rights to any money in the account. That's what a joint account means. If you are having trouble with this, perhaps a joint account is not for you.

if you have a 'two to sign' account, you can make it so neither of you can withdraw without the other being present. (so you would need to go together into a branch to draw out money) but if it's a 'one to sign' account (you can withdraw independently) there's nothing you can do.

But then you can't have a debit card.
