Our HP Laserjet with print, scan, fax and copy is 4 years old. Our newish PC has Vista and does not appear to like the printer software although we can still print fax and copy. I have tried reinstalling printer software using original disks but it will not accept them and aftergoing through some of the installation process comes up with an error. I have tried downloading drivers from HP website and other driver download sites but can't. I would love to be able to scan. A customer has aksed for a quotation to be emailed = on headed paper but we can't scan. Any ideas how to get round this.

Thanks Marty.

If you are in a hurry to get a "scan" to your customer you might be able to take a photo of the quotation with a digital camera and email it to him as a .jpg file (or import the photo into a word-processor file and ensure it displays "A4" size).
Hope you find Vista drivers OK.0 -
Thank you for your replies. I tried to download the Vista drivers, got as far as 96% then it stopped. I have asked someone from one of our other offices to scan and email for me. I would quite happily buy a stand alone scanner but our HP 2840 is huge and we have no more room for office equipment. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

You can usually get XP software to work in Vista by following this procedure.
Locate the .exe file (usually install or setup)of the software on the disc (or other media).
Right Click on it.
In the menu that opens click on Properties
Click on the Compatability tab
Click in the box marked "Run this program in compatability mode for:"
Select Windows XP Service Pack2
Click OK and backtrack all the way out.
Run the software.
It worked for all programs that Vista wouldn't run when I transferred, including an Epson scanner which, at the time, did not have Vista drivers.
Hope this helps.0 -
Installation came up with a fatal error. Have decided to leave it for the time being.
