i was planning to use it to store all media files my music, tv that sort of thing.0

Unless you have a tv card and are planning to keep the PC in the lounge plugges into the TV and use the HD tv recording, it's not worth it.
You can store your files just as easily on an XP machine.0 -
My son converted our PC to Windows mce 2005, installed a hauppauge 1300 tv card and put it in his bedroom instead of his telly etc.
He seems really pleased with it.0
