Question about JSA Contribution Based

Are you allowed to work or earn any money whilst claiming the above? I am doing some calculations with my partner and want to know if there is a threshold? Background info-he is on JSA contribution based, I am self employed working 20 hours a week and we have a joint claim for tax credits which includes an element for our child (but not childcare as he is not working). I am clueless about tax credits so if anyone can help? thanks

You can work up to 16 hours on JSA contributions based but all but £5 is deducted pound for pound with your earnings. Your income doesn't affect his JSA if it's contributions based.
  • thanks for the info! Would we be able to claim more tax credits if our joint working hours were 30 hours? I have this in my head for some reason and not sure if its correct
