got insurance on loan but can not claim HELP!!!
We took out a loan last year and insurance that would pay the loan if we became unemployed. Well my partner and I both lost our jobs at the same time. The insurance sent us an employers certificate for my partner's boss to sign. He refused, turned out he was not registered for tax even though he was taxing my partner's wages! We phoned the insurance company to explain they told us we could not claim without it. I am gutted as we had payed off a £1000 but now with interest we owe them £500.00 and we can not pay it. Is there anything we can do? We are so angry

Hi there
And yes reclaim the PPI plus the interest back.
Its worthless to you and your out of pocket due to this.
More information here hun
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Follow the guidelines on reclaiming, you will find templates on the link as well, but use your own reasons, they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
You may have to write another letter if they do not resolve in your favour the first time, or they may try to fob you off with a low offer.
So keep at them until you receive the final response.
In the final response they should give you details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) if you remain disatisfied from the outcome of the complaint.
Remember to post all letters by recorded delivery, good luck and ask for help on this when required.;)
Also just to add that there is also a thread for PPI reclaiming here:

Not strictly kosher, but you should have a fair bit of negotiating power with your husbands ex boss to get him to hand you a sum of cash in lieu of you reporting him to the inland revenue. By taking taking tax from an employee and not passing it on he has commited a criminal offence.
The other problem may be that your OH will not be able to claim anuy benifits if his NI has not been paid. Has he got payslips etc or was it all cash in hand?0 -
If the insurance cover applied to both of you why not claim in your name?0
-
IS there something you can do about the tax situation? If the employer wasn't paying tax, then he probably wasn't paying NI either.0

My feeling about this one is that the PPI wasn't really mis sold - as far as your husband was aware he was paying tax and NI and the lender only knows what you tell them.
I'd be reporting the employer for taxing his wages but not being registered for tax. Does this mean your hubby could get in trouble with the tax man because technically he hasn't paid any tax?0 -
we did report him but he is still trading now, so don't think anything was done. Would the citizens advice be able to help?0

I completely agree - it is very assumptive to say that you can just claim it back when there may be no evidence to suggest it was mis-sold.
If the employer has any sense he will resolve the error of his ways with the tax man and you could have a perfectly valid PPI policy on which to claim - something you will not have if you cancel it and start firing off templated letters claiming it was mis-sold for reasons that might not be true.0
